Supply-Chain Management System

Supply Chain Management (SCM) is the management of a network of interconnected businesses involved in the ultimate provision of product and service packages required by end customers. All of these businesses are part of the supply chain.

Traditionally, marketing, distribution, planning, manufacturing and the purchasing organizations along the supply chain operate independently.

While easy to understand in theory, the SMC becomes more complex the larger the company and its range of products, and the more international the locations of its suppliers, customers, and distribution facilities. Supply chain management is also complex because companies may be part of several pipelines at the same time.
